Autism Funding
What is Autism Funding?
The province of BC provides funding through the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) for a number of different services and supports that promote skill development for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Services, such as counselling, may be funded for both the child and members of their immediate family.
Services
At No Fear Counselling, we understand the unique struggles faced by children on the autism spectrum and their families. Our team of qualified therapists offer a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Our therapists work with children and their families to identify their specific needs & goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan to help them achieve the best possible outcomes.
Once your child has had an assessment and received a diagnosis, you can reach out to a children and youth with support needs (CYSN) office through MCFD. A CYSN worker will help with submitting an autism funding application which, once approved, will outline how much funding is available and dates of the funding period. Once approved, funding may be used for: travel, training, equipment, services, support, or therapy.
After contacting the team at No Fear Counselling and selecting a therapist, we can help you fill out the relevant paperwork to allow us to bill MCFD directly for sessions. You are able to allocate as much funding towards counselling as you would like and make changes as needed.
The length of therapy can vary depending on the individual and the nature of their challenges. Some people may only need a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. Our therapists work collaboratively with children and their families to determine the best course of treatment for their needs.
